Oh, hey.
Didn’t see you there.
In fact, I haven’t seen anyone outside of my immediate family for the past eighteen days now—global pandemics, am I right?
*cue nervous laugh*
My name is Delaney, and this is my online diary. What a joy it is to have you read along, as we course this unprecedented event (and its many nuanced implications) together.
Consider this a letter—a letter written by a real person with real emotions undergoing a real trial, stamped with a real seal of Hope—from my heart to yours.
Welcome.
Aside from an unbearably catchy title (sorry in advance for all impending sarcasm) just what is #QUARANTINED?
Well, I’m glad you asked.
Before life took this unexpected turn, I was running at unprecedented speed—working four (sometimes five) jobs, going to college full-time, and desperately trying to hold it all together . . . and sorrowfully failing in the process.
I was worn out, burnt-out, and in dire need of a time-out.
Ironically, I knew I was wrong yet found myself burying these convictions under piling to-do lists and never-ending aspirations. I knew what I needed was rest, but I didn’t want to rest.
I wanted to run, so I ran . . . and I ran fast.
I’ve come to learn, however, that it’s the silent moments that speak the loudest—the restful times that teach us the most.
So, while this quarantine has brought along with it a hurricane of difficulties, it has also cultivated within me a greater appreciation for life itself—from the smallest things to the most important ones.
It has proved to be one of the most beautifully challenging seasons of my life—a true paradox, indeed.
You see, friends, God has used this “life-pause” as a means of teaching me so many lessons, and if you allow yourself to be silent for long enough, I’m sure you’d soon learn that He just might be teaching you a few things, too.
So, what exactly is #QUARANTINED?
Well, quite frankly, it’s nothing more than my personal attempt at sharing these life lessons with you–an online diary, if you will.
Each Thursday (be there or be square), I’ll be uploading a short journal entry, detailing life’s most recent developments and sharing a few lessons I’ve been learning in the process.
It’s nothing fancy . . . but then again, I’ve never been the ‘fancy’ type. (And if we’re honest with ourselves, amidst the pajama days, lazy mornings, and dwindling schedules of these past few weeks, “fancy” has become pretty taboo.)
Thanks for joining in.
I’m glad you’re here, really.
Ready to embark on this journey together?
Let’s go . . .
