Before we begin, I’d like to address the “elephant in the room,” if you don’t mind.

Yes, my title is slightly overdone. I suppose I was simply aiming for a less mundane one such as “Twenty Facts You Didn’t Know About Me,” but I believe I might have gone slightly overboard in the “dramatic title” department. (In fact, I’ve attempted to alter the title numerous times, but I’ve found the current one somewhat too humorous to change.)

I’ve been considering an update on my blog post, 25 Facts You Didn’t Know About Me, from this past fall. Quite frankly, a massive amount has changed. In fact, just the other day I was skimming through and became instantly amazed at how much has differed in just a few, short months. Because so much has transposed since October– my love for coffee being one of the utmost importance, of course– I’ve decided to make a 2.0 version of the post . . . with a slightly more original, slightly more exaggerated title.

1.) I simply love to read. I can’t recall if I included this within my last post, but even as a young child, I have always preferred a good book over most anything. It’s my “sport,” if you will.

2.) I am an incredibly shy individual at first glance; however, once I feel comfortable around you, I really am quite funny, or at least I like to think of myself as such.

3.) I love to thrift. When I was younger, I used to laugh at the prospect of wearing someone else’s clothes. (Seriously, how spoiled was I?) However, one day my aunt invited me to go to a consignment store with her, and man, that was “all she wrote,” as the saying goes. I’ve been hooked ever since. Thrift stores, consignment stores, flea markets, and yard sales– I love them all.

4.) I used to play the piano, but unfortunately, I haven’t done so in a really long time. I’ll occasionally play the keyboard, but each time I do, I’m sorely disappointed with my musical skills, or lack thereof. Let’s just say, it’s a wonderful thing indeed that I only play occasionally.

5.) I still don’t like fried chicken, and I’m still not even sorry about it.

6.) I regularly delete the Instagram app off of my phone in an attempt to break away from the chains of comparison that seem to always spawn from that platform. Seriously, it’s almost an every-other-week occurrence, but I don’t mind. When I feel like my real life is revolving only around my virtual one, that’s always a good indicator that I should delete the app for a little while and take a break.

7.) I’m lactose-intolerant. Bet all of my ice cream pictures really fooled you on that one, huh? Yeah, I love all things dairy, but unfortunately, they don’t love me too much. Oh well. #Yolo, am I right? (Do kids still say that these days?)

8.) Continuing with fact #7, Pralines ‘n Cream is hands-down my most favorite ice cream flavor, with mint-chocolate-chip earning “runner-up.”

9.) My favorite months of the year are May and October, my favorite seasons being . . . you guessed it . . . spring and fall.

10.) It’s always been a major dream of mine to one day author my very own book. It seems slightly chimerical, I know, but it’s still a dream, nonetheless.

11.) I love coffee. Yes, I said it. Never thought those words would ever leave my mouth? Me neither, actually. I must say, college is an excellent stimulus to “jumpstart” the whole “coffee-loving” process, though.

12.) I’m a cat person. Yeah, I know, I’m sorry.

13.) When I was six . . . or was it seven . . . years old, we had a major house fire. Thankfully, my entire family, even the dog, wasn’t hurt in any way. “I lost everything replaceable and nothing irreplaceable,” as my dad used to say.

14.) My shoe size is an exact seven; however, let’s just say, if the shoe is really cute, I can squeeze into a six and slide into an eight. “A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do,” I suppose.

15.) I love to plant/ garden. Not to piggie back on the whole “plant trend” or anything, but I really do love plants and flowers. In fact, I always have, even as a child.

16.) I admire the art of photography, and I love to take pictures. On a completely unrelated note, is anyone in the market to sell an old film camera? Asking for a friend, of course.

17.) My favorite flower is a sunflower, but I also love hydrangeas.

18.) I love old films from the 30’s and 40’s. Not to age myself eighty years, but they simply don’t make movies like that anymore. One of my all-time favorites would have to be Roman Holiday.

19.) Mystery books have always been my most preferred read. I’m relatively certain that I’ve read almost all of Carolyn Keene’s Nancy Drew series. They are classics.

20.) The grand finale: my favorite kind of pizza is “extra cheese with ricotta and banana peppers.” Not too much of an exciting finale, I suppose, but it’ll do.

Thank you for taking the time to read twenty incredibly irrelevant and relatively boring facts about me. You’ll never know much much your taking time out of the day to read my writing means to me.

With love,

Delaney.
